Deoria Tal also considered as Devaria’ or Deoriya is a beautiful lake located about 3 km on an uphill trek from the villages of Mastura and Sari, on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. On the clear day Deoria Tal blessed the tourists with reflection of Chaukhamba peak on its crystal clear water lake.
Preferably, one can trek to Deoria Tal from Ukhimath, a fairly comfortable 7 km trek. you can even enjoy overnight camping, jungle trek etc.trekker found number of shops which sell tea and snacks but they shut at sundown. Trekker crys usually combine this trek with the nearby trek to Tungnath (highest Hindu shrine devoted to Lord Shiva) and Chandrashila which are approached from Chopta.
One can experience the best two worlds at Deoria Tal, the first one is the real world and the second is the reflection of the beautiful surrounding in the lake.
The lake is known for its wide 300° panorama. Mountains like Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Bandarpunch, Kedar Range, Kalanag, etc. can be viewed from here. There exists another route from Deoria Tal to Tungnath, which is mainly chosen as Night Camping, Jungle Trekking, etc.
If you are lucky then you can even spot animals drinking water from the lake in early morning. Deoria tal is served as the well known trekking and tourist destination of the region because of its calm and comfortable scenic beauty.
In the Hindu mythology
Hindu mythology states that the Devas bathed in this lake hence the name. The lake is also believed to be the “Indra Sarovar” referred to in the Puranas by wandering, Hindu mendicants Sadhus. It is also believed that it was the place from where the mighty Pandavas were asked queries by Yaksha
